Job Description

SCOPE:         

Perform duties to prepare and serve large quantities of food for clients in residential or day programs, working within the limits of standard or accepted practice.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.  Work from menus and recipes planned by others.  Determine food requirements, order or shop for food and store food.

2.  Plan cooking operations involving the preparation and service of large quantities of food and based on requirements of designated recipes and menus.  Prepare cook and serve food.

3.  Maintain food storage areas and ensure that food is rotated, stored, prepared and kept in accordance with health standards.

4.  Direct clients in the clean up of the kitchen and dining areas and in the preparation of food for special events.

5.  Maintain equipment in clean and orderly condition.  Requisition utensils and cooking devices.  Notify designated personnel of the need for repairs to major kitchen equipment. 

6.  Must be able to successfully complete Juvenile Justice Use of Force Training to include physical crisis intervention techniques.  Must be able to physically restrain violet youth by ones self.

7.  Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.

8.  Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

 

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Perform or assist with any departmental operations, under direction, to maintain work flow.

2.   Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.

3.  Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.  Ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.  Perform other related duties as assigned.

4. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. 

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Position qualifications: Ability to receive and maintain a(n)

  • Level II Background clearance
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Registration driver’s license record in accordance with the underwriting guidelines set by Aspire insurance company as described in the AHP Corporate Transportation Policy 3.9.1
  • Requires the equivalent of an applied trades training program in food preparation and service involving at least two thousand hours of training. 

Other qualifications: At least one year of experience in the preparation and service of large quantities of food in an institutional setting.
