Job Description

REQUIRED ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1.   Receptionist Duties (answer phones, re route calls as required)

     

  2.   Responsible for the patients initial medical charts are complete, all forms are completed and properly identified and signed, and that all necessary information is in the computer.

     

  3.   Maintain communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnosis or to obtain additional information.

 

  1.   Compile, verify, type, and file medical record documents in order to meet Lakeside Behavioral Healthcare standards of care.

 

  1.  Review medical records for completeness, assembles records into standard order, and file records in designated areas according to applicable alphabetic or numerical order.

 

  1.   Compile statistical data such as admissions, discharges, deaths and types of status or treatment in the daily electronic census.

 

  1. Operates the computer to enter and retrieve data and type correspondence and reports.

 

  1.   Has the ability to read and transcribe upon doctors issuance of an order for a test or a new prescription.

 

  1.   Assures all equipment, necessary documents, and supplies are available.

     

  2. Maintains the highest level of Patient Confidentiality, Promotes ethics, integrity and quality programming.

 

  1. Acts with UM and QM Department as a liaison, as requested and authorized.

     

  2. Maintains a positive and effective relationship with other departments.

     

  3. Promotes ethics, integrity and quality programming

     

  4. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or Certification Required; Associate Degree in Administration Perferred

 

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

 

One year of hospital or office medical secretarial experience preferred. Has knowledge of and experience with hospital unit administrative procedures.

 

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

 AA degree in Administration preferred, education can be substitute with 3 years of experience in hospital unit. Certification and or experience must include hospital organization, medical terminology and transcription.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of computers must have strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to participate in direct interaction with the clients.  Must maintain compliance with all training requirements.
